United Capital Insider Otusanya Taiwo Divests 17,000 Shares in Latest Nigerian Exchange Deal
In accordance with strict corporate disclosure regulations mandated by Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), leading pan-African financial services group United Capital Plc has officially announced a recent transaction involving insider share sales executed by a staff member.
According to a formal regulatory disclosure notice signed by Company Secretary Leo Okafor and published on August 17, 2026, Otusanya Taiwo, a team member in the firm's Corporate Services department, completed the sale of 17,000 ordinary shares. The transaction was conducted on August 14, 2026, on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange at an execution price of ₦17.65 per share, amounting to a total aggregate transaction value of ₦299,050.
This recent equity disposal follows historical insider transaction filings by the same employee over recent trading years. In April 2024, Taiwo recorded a purchase of 4,230 ordinary shares at ₦16.75 per share, prior to executing a significantly larger divestment of 50,010 units at ₦39.20 per share in July 2024. Prompt reporting of insider share dealings remains a foundational governance requirement under NGX listing rules, aiming to promote market transparency, mitigate information asymmetry, and foster public investor confidence.
Looking ahead, market analysts observe that modest insider divestments are typically driven by individual liquidity requirements or personal portfolio diversification rather than underlying operational concerns within the enterprise.
As United Capital Plc continues to expand its footprint in investment banking, asset management, trust services, and wealth solutions across West Africa, investors will maintain a close watch on future insider trading activities alongside upcoming corporate earnings reports to gauge management alignment and broader market sentiment.
